Flagships
Ziele/Ideen
Shipping accounts for 700 million tons of CO2 – each year. With the technology developed through the Flagships project, we can meet future climate targets.
The Flagships project consists of two vessels. One newbuild, and one retrofit. This proves its possible to also make the current fleet operate with zero-emissions.
The H2Barge2 is a retrofit and will alone save 2000 tonns of CO2 anualy.
Kurzbeschreibung
The FLAGSHIPS project will take zero-emission waterborne transport to an entirely new level by deploying two commercially operated hydrogen fuel cell vessels.
In february the H2Barge2 was successfully launched in Rotterdam, ready for operations on the Rhine. The vessel has 6 PEM fuel cells and is running on compressed hydrogen. The total amount of power installed is 1,2 MW.
This summer, the consortium will launch their second vessel. The Zulu06 will operate a route in the middle of the french capitol Paris.
Both vessels are completely zero-emission.
Resultate
We have already developed the tech to successfully build new – and retrofit older vessels – to run emission-free on hydrogen.
We have deployed one vessel. The second vessel will be deployed this summer.
When the tech is developed, approved by class societies and governments – it´s much easier for shipowners to get their hydrogen vessels on the waters.
